That said AVOID a fat without the HDMI output spot on back as that's highest for RROD.
XBOX 360 S MODEL 1439 HOW TO
Oh as for telling chip set on a fat Xbox 360 just look it up as it's power wattage number on ack of system is usually how to tell. E model has no noise from either the console or power brick and only noise I hear is a disc spinning. Fat Xbox 360 is loudest due to the two fans inside.
Mostly noticable nosie from the S model comes from the Power supply brick as it has the fan inside which I have opened and cleaned out dust on. E model however is the quietest of the three I own. For me I like the matte black and style of my S model more then the E model's similar to the Xbox One style. I also have the S and E model both working perfectly fine as well. I have a Jasper that works fine but is it the best? I can't say anything 100% as I only bought it earlier this year and don't use it much. Not saying it's 100% fixed as there is a chance it could still happen as with any system even the E model. That means all the RROD issues were fixed by that fat models release. The Jasper chipset while a fat 360 is basically the final version of the fat model before the S model. Something about S and E models having capacitors that can die easier causing the Red Dot of Death. It was publicly revealed by Microsoft's president of Entertainment Devices division Robbie Bach to the Financial Times on October 18, 2007, and officially announced on October 22, 2007, although it was available in stores far earlier. Fat Xbox 360 with the Jasper chipset is supposedly the best overall though that's according to when I was on Reddit (f*** that site btw) and it's Xbox 360 board. The Xbox 360 Arcade replaced the Xbox 360 Core as the entry-level Xbox 360 on September 20, 2007, while retaining the Core's price of US279.99.
